From jbshaw@ingr.com Wed, 05 Sep 2001 11:38:58 -0700 From: "Shaw, John B" Date: Wed, 05 Sep 2001 11:38:58 -0700 Subject: RE: Fail over with ODBC and standard edition Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain The problem I have is with the TnsNames.ora. With no changes it doesn't fail over (this is expected). I make the changes to the the file with the parameters from the failsafe doc's and get ora-01012 not logged on and then sp2-0575 use of sql feature not in sql92 entry level whenever I try to log in, I then get a sql prompt - I can then do describes but no selects. -----Original Message----- Sent: Tuesday, September 04, 2001 6:56 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L John, I have never used TAF(Transparent Application Failover) with MS Cluster(Only with OPS on NT) so I am not sure if TAF will work or not. TAF is built into Oracle's ODBC driver but not microsoft's. I only use the EE edition but TAF is part of NET8 and Oracle8 OCI developed application's. NET8 and ODBC is part of the EE and standard editions of Oracle. Oracle's ODBC driver is written with Oracle8 OCI and Microsoft's ODBC driver is not. You will also have to setup TNSNAMES for TAF to work with your application. Now my big disclaimer is that I only setup the ODBC driver, I never tested it because I don't have any apps that use ODBC.
