If the table has had the permission granted to the users then it would be better to drop the column. If you drop the table and recreate then you have to regrant the permissions. Also your packages could very well be "invalid" if you drop the table and recreate.

Hi Gurus,

If the table is empty & U need to drop one of the columns, do you 1) alter table tab_name drop column col_name or 2) drop & recreate table

I use option (1). Which is a better choice ? TIA
