Lisa,  

It is *highly* recommended that you shouldn't do anything else when burning CDs. Unless your CD burner has high cache, launching multiple applications can induce the 'buffer under run' problem, and can sometimes render the disk unusable.  

I get into the audio problem even if I am starting explorer or Adobe Active share programs, if MusicMatch jukebox is playing. I am running PIII 733 with 384MB RAM, and (please don't laugh) WinME.
