Hi all,

I am sure someone should be able to help me on this. I am having a user having problem when inserting a data that is from Legacy Systems into oracle. His 'Cent' symbol getting converted to Inverted 'Question Mark'. NOw everthing is 'cent' until it goes into database. Oracle suggested me to do some tests based on NLS VAriables being set. NOw when I set those and tried on backend thru sqlplus/sql loader the tests come out successful as 'cent'. But If I dont set the NLS_Variables, It sets it as Quote mark. The Developer said that setting NLS did not work for him as he had bulk load of programs that uses triggers and other things...

The big question here is 1. Should NLS parameter setting be a part of Oracle Parameters for day to day usage. 2. How do we incorprate this to the front end as the load is coming via the front end? 3. Is this a known problem or bug?

Let me know some suggestions as this is bugging my head

Thanx

Srikanth
