Not true.

Oracle 8.1.7 is supported on SuSE 7.1

It requires a patch, available through otn.oracle.com and suse.com.

Works fine for me.

Lora, lisa, what ever...
Oracle only supports SUSE 7.1 for Oracle 9i.  I use RedHat 6.2 with Oracle 8.1.7 and RedHat upgraded to 7.0 afterwards. Works great but not supported. SCO was bought out by RedHat a while back I believe.

Sorry everyone, I know you were just discussing this recently.

What is the most stable combination of Oracle & Linux? What would you recommend? I want to say the consensus was SCO Linux but I don't quite remember.

Thank you
