This command requires a thorough knowledge of what your database looked like at the time you trashed the controlfiles. For the syntax of the command, consult one of your reference books. If you haven't had a chance to go out and get any yet, look on http://otn.oracle.com. You'll have to register, but it's free, they don't hassle you, and there is certainly a lot of good information available. David A. Open that control file (it'll have .trc extension). They syntax will be right there. You will have to edit it deleting unnecessary info. You will loose the archiving and RMAN (if you have it) info though. At least you will not forget now to backup control files regularly ;-). In the init.ora I commented the line of the control file No1, then it gives me the error in the No 2, then commented line of Control No 2, and continues the error. Don't know what to do. I don't have backups of the control files. Saludos, Ramon E.
