Hi Veronica
There is no technical problem with nesting begin backup's, but it is
not generally recommended since when a teblespace is put in backup mode
it will generate more redo and if the full database is in backup mode you
could get a performance problem. Regaring scriprt to do the online backup
you can finde som nice scripts on
http://www.osborne.com/oracle/index.html under "free code online"
and "Oracle 8i Backup & Recovery"

Hi listers,
I'm plannig to test hot backups and I am wondering if I can place several
tablespaces on backup mode, copy the datafiles and then end the backup
mode
for all datafiles at once.
Would that be ok? (of course backing up controlfie, and logs generated
during backup)
Any of you have a unix script for hot backups and want to share it?
thanks in advance!
