RE: ORA-12546 TNS:permission denied

Hi,

I am installing a program that requires root to create/alter a database. I know this is not "correct" but there is no way around this. I actually solved the problem by applying 775 permissions to directories higher up in the order. This seems to have solved the problem.

and did you mean 12546, the 12456 error makes no sense to me at all.

who were you when you installed the software? you should have been oracle.

the ONLY thing root ever needs to do is run root.sh at beg/end of install, then root should never touch anything with oracle again.(ok there is that stupid agent thing).
