If you liked LOTR, try the Stephen Donaldson "Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever" series - 6 books in all.
Great story of a writer who's self-despite is actualized (Materialized!) into a magical land where he (and later, another character, a female) become unwanted heroes.

I've read the series about a hundred times - I keep finding nuances in the story that are pretty amazing. Pretty complex writing, if you ask me.

I agree with Kevin, can't wait until December for the LOTR movie. Hope the movie is half as good as the hype. The wait for the other two movies will seem like a long time to me.

And Jared, you are allowed to not like something that the majority of the world thinks is pretty spectacular. Free country! :)
