good point! i just changed my redo and control files to the .dbf extension. luckily, my datafiles were already .dbf.

I'm using dbf for all data files including data, indexes, temp or rbs. The naming of the files shows what the file contains.

I do not think different extensions could lead to problem but I would change it so the naming is consistent across all databases.
