Re: how do i explain this ?

Is it possible that under 7.3.2 the optimizer was rule-based (I don't know when CBO was introduced) and that under 8.1.5 it is set to CHOOSE or FIRST_ROWS or ALL_ROWS?

Also, is there anyway you could move to 8.1.6 and take advantage of the CURSOR_SHARING parameter?
