yes

what you said was correct for OPTIMIZER PARAMETER.

But in the case of sql_trace parameter it is behaving in different manner.

trace at db level is false. so in v$param it is false.

i logged into scott/tiger and set the sql_trace to true.

the strange thing i found was when i issue show parameters sql_trace from scott it is showing sql_trace=false

why?
