The other error you got, 1110, is also media related. It should be point to the bad file in question.

$ oerr ora 1110
01110, 00000, "data file %s: '%s'"
// *Cause: Reporting file name for details of another error // *Action: See associated error message $

It could be a hardware (disk) error. Check with the sys admin to see if all your filesystems are ok.

My instance is down and I found the following error message in alert log file
"CKPT:terminating instance due to error 1110" Let me know what could be reason.
