Re: Oracle 8i on Linux (8.1.6 on RH7) - install help

Have you adjusted the kernel parameters It seems to be Linux's sticking point.

Although you have sufficient RAM etc either it isn't being fully utilized or you are running out of processes, semaphores or some such. There is a very good document that someone has posted a link to on installing on Linux in the past
I think that there is a HOWTO on installing Oracle on Linux now.
