Not to be pedantic, but df -k shows all mounted partitions, regardless of whether they are in /etc/vfstab or not. It requires read permisions on /etc/mnttab (whihc should be readable by everyone, but I suppose some sick SA could change it so that only root could read it. The system would function normally, but non-root users wouldn't be able to use df functionally.
