816/817 and JDBC Driver

Hi, following question on NT.
I need to install 817 JDBC-Driver as I neet JDBC2 compliance. I just have a Oracle 8.1.6 database and installed SybaseToOracleWorkbench817.
I copied JDBC-Driver in 8.1.7 home and was wondering if it is sufficient to have the 8.1.7 Home and
OCI of 816 is used or do I need a 8.1.7 client?
