I've never found hot backups shocking myself. Is it possible that rather than visiting Jeremiah's site at www.speakeasy.net poor old novicedba visited www.spankeasy.net (I'm not even sure it exists and I'm at work so I won't be checking).

If it does exist I'm sure that switching logs means something entirely different there.
