As I've been working my way through a lot of new features in 8 and 8i, I have now moved on from the analytical functions to the CAST function.

When going through the analytical functions, there was info in various Oracle documents, but, what got me over the hump and made the light come on a bit brighter was a white paper I found. It went into more detail and examples than anything in the Oracle docs.
