I'm kind of in the same boat as Karen... except that I'm working as a developer right now (not Oracle).  My goal  of becoming a DBA has taken a year and a half to complete the certification track.  I know the effort it takes to get certified.  Granted, there are a lot of things I leaned and knew when I took the test(s) that I'll have to look up when I do get on the job but I suspect that even the seasoned DBAs have to do that.  Otherwise, why would this site be so popular??  I've seen many questions here that I could have answered, even though I haven't had hands on experience.  Come guys, if you've got a job that you know all the answers for, then I don't think you're a DBA.  One of the things that I like about technology is that there is always so much to learn, challanges to overcome.    Hang in there, Karen. The hard work is going to pay off for you! Received on Wed Jun 20 2001 - 16:38:21 CDT
