Are you sure you want to do SAME? The best Oracle I/O tuning expert I have ever met is Gaja and he recently said, in a presentation at IOUW 2001, "SAME is insane"! I have done it on test/dev servers, but don't think I would want it on a heavy production server. In addition to any possible contention issues, consider recovery. If you lose any disk (and perhaps its mirror - it does happen in real life, but rarely.), then you would need to restore and recover the entire database! (Off to find my asbestos suit...)
