How about:

#!/usr/bin/perl

$filename=shift;
$size = (stat($filename))[7];

print "File in Bytes : $size\n";
printf("File in MBytes: %5.2f\n", $size/=2**20);

call if filesize and use like this:

  filesize <filename>
