What is the logging column of the DBA_TABLES view used for?

There is not a lot of documentation in the Oracle 8.1.5 Server Reference Manual on this column. I know that this logging column in DBA_TABLES view can be set to YES, NO, and NULL.

What kind of logging are we talking about? Redo logs?

We're running 8.1.5 on Sun Solaris 2.6. This is a datamart database which uses partitions.

Thanks for any insights,

Cherie
