thank you, I am glad you think that it is a good book (and there are things in there for experienced DBAs as well).

and I said that $100/hr was low :)

don't forget the additional taxes you'll owe on that $40,000, that's part of it. and even if I cleared the entire $40K, that's not exactly a LOT of money, not enough to let me retire.

I don't know which author told you it was easier to find projects, I was told by one that while the DBAs knew his name, the problem was management didn't -- and they are the ones who make the final decision.

In any case, this discussion is starting to overwhelm the list, and that's not fair to the others.

I wish you luck in writing and self-publishing a book... and do let us know when it makes you a millionaire
