Unless Oracle has changed their tune .... and we know that never happens ..... then you should never analyze SYS or SYSTEM. I was always told that the Catalog was optimized to use rule based queries and if you analyze it you will populate the statistics.

well, FWIW it don't give me the warm fuzzies. still i can't see where it would hurt anything. but then i'll bet i'm missing something.;-)
