No we have such installations running here. I have JDK Hotjava and 8i personal on a PC and we have at least one of our servers with multiple JDK and 8i on it. It is all about paths and whatever so as long as your oracle account the one that starts the db etc doesn't know about the other java installs it is right.

Watch out for classpath variable in your profiles

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if I was to install the SUN JDK on a server that has 8i on it?

Would the Oracle one (8.1.6.0.0. or whatever) and the SUN ones interfere with each other?

I know next to nothing about Java.

Likewise, if I was to install the SUN HotJava Web browser on a machine that has Oracle 8i on it, would it crippled the database?

Would they interfere with each other only on NT, or would the same thing happen on UNIX?
