This script was accurate for 8.0.6, haven't tried it in 8i.

column obj_name format a30
select obj_name, to_char(timestamp,'MM-DD-RRRR HH:MI:SS'),
decode(ses_actions,
       '---S------------','DELETE',
       '------S---------','INSERT',
       '---------S------','SELECT',
       '----------S-----','UPDATE',
       '---S--S--S------','DELETE/INSERT/SELECT',
       '---S--S--SS-----','DELETE/INSERT/SELECT/UPDATE',
       '------S--S------','INSERT/SELECT',
       '------S--SS-----','INSERT/SELECT/UPDATE',
       '---------SS-----','SELECT/UPDATE',
       'UNKNOWN')

from dba_audit_object where owner in ('VGN','PCAT60') order by 2 ;
