Ron,

I see that you have received a number of emails suggesting that you use 'stty erase <backspace>'.

Unfortunately, that is not quite correct.

I have experienced the same problem on both of my Linux boxes, and have found that even though the backspace is set correctly at the unix command line, it does not work corrrectly in SQL*Plus.

I've found this to be true with other software as well.

Here's the workaround: Get the shell to take your backspace key literally, and then it will work.

This is done by pressing <CTRL>-V , then pressing backspace.

e.g. stty erase <CTRL>-V <backspace>.

All should be fine now, both at the command line and in SQL*Plus.

Not sure why this is, and haven't taken the time to figure it out.
