side note, Informix has a feature that lets you define a table which references a flat file in unix.  This allows them to bypass the buffer cache and facilitate fast table loads.  I believe I read that this will be in Oracle 9 also, but I can't find the references at this time.  Anyone have more info?

  that I know of is a Sybase utility. The Sybase bcp command moves data from a   flat file to a Sybase table and vice versa. I don&#8217;t know of any such command   in Oracle.
