Scanned documents stored in the database?

I have a requirement to store scanned documents. I am debating whether or not to store the documents in the database, or store them on the OS and reference them. It should be noted that the document will be displayed as an image to the user, and does not need to be indexed or text-searched upon.

Any experiences or thoughts?

Many thanks.

Chris
