Vadim,
Thanks for the info. It appears that I did not get a complete install in the Linux box. None of the commands you recommend can be found. I will have to dig up the original cdrom and try to install the OMS option. I think that I might just upgrade the Oracle to 8.1.7 on RedHat 6.1. IT looks like the downloads from OTN do not have all of the options in them.
Thanks,
ROR mª¿ªm

        Hi, Ron,

I think, you can't discover OMS server on Linux box from your workstation.

0. You need OEM Console and OMS versions to be the same. You cant connect from 8.1.7(OEM2.2) to 8.1.6 (OEM2.1). You can setup OEM 2.2 and use 8.1.6 for repository, but they cannot share ORACLE_HOME.

  1. Make sure OMS is running on Linux box oemctrl status oms <OEM username>/<password>
  2. Make sure, you have Linux hostname registered in your IP naming servis (hosts, DNS, whatever)
  3. You may try to start console on Linux box directly oemapp console

In the past I have used OEM2.2r3 on an NT server/workstation and it worked okay. Due to NT licenseing I could not keep the setup. I converted to RedHat Linux 6.2 and Oracle 8.1.6.1 as the server. I am using Win98 as the client that has the OEM loaded.
The DBA studio workes great as a stand alone but when I try to use the Enterprise Manager Package, I can not get past the "Console" screen. I have entered the host name in every possable combination of name, name.world, etc and I still get error
"VTK-1000: Unable to connect to the management server linuxbox. Please verify that you have entered the correct hostname and the status of the Oracle Management Server"
Is my combination of Linux, 8.1.6.1, OEM 2.2r3 and Win 98 a non functioning setup?
