Hi I saw this over on the Sun System admin list and was interested in the cause of it.

My suspicion is that it has something to do with 2GB files limits

Oracle data base using the imp command on my Solaris 2.6 server this is the message that I receive

Import: Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production on Thu Jul 15 17:01:36 1999
(c) Copyright 1999 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production With the Partitioning and Java options
PL/SQL Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production
IMP-00002: failed to open ./sig.dmp for read IMP-00021: operating system error - error code (dec 79, hex 0x4F) Import file: expdat.dmp >

this file is with 2.5 GB
is there any variable that I need to change for this?

I used the ulimit commands options but didn't work.
