I believe that RMAN only backs up blocks that have been allocated to an oracle object - index, segment, table, etc. If the block is in a datafile but not in use by an oracle object (that is, the block is free), then RMAN doesn't backup those blocks. Steve

DBAs

I have taken hot backup using RMAN. The total Size of the Database is 5200MB(By Sum(byes) in Dba_data_files). Where us the backup file size put together is 4600MB.

Where am I missing the remaining 600MB?

Thanks

Raj
