Hi,

another important issue is, that all x$ tables and parameters starting with an underscore can be subject to undocumented changes. Both are for database internal use and the v$ views are usually there to offer a interface to the data dictionary where changes are documented by Oracle. For a good insight, visit www.ixora.com.au. Steve has a lot of papers and hints dealing with X$ tables. He also wrote a very good book on Oracle internals published by O'Reilly.
