I have 7.3.4, 8.0.5 and 8.1.6 running on the same Sun box -- no problems

same oracle owner, different ORACLE_HOMEs

and shell scripts that are named for each of my database instances that set up my environment to point to the proper ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME, etc etc so I can switch easily between databases
