Also, check out ODTUG (Oracle Development Tools User Group) at odtug.com and their lists - hosted on fatcity.com as well. ODTUG-DES2K-L has been the best source of Designer discussion for years. Be aware that they (actually we, since I've been a member for 6 years) are "believers", so the opinions there are very "Pro-Designer".

  2. Steep learning curve.
  3. Expensive.
  4. Overkill for 50% of projects its used for (personal experience, your mileage may vary).
  5. Existed for years.
  6. Oracle Support is strong.
  7. Knowledgeable developers are few.
  8. Generates different types of code.
  9. Almost always you'll need to customize generated code.

    This could be a FAQ-type question, however, I have     been unable to find much of relevance ...

    I have been asked by a manager about any known     issues and opinions of Oracle Designer.

    How much widespread is the usage of Oracle Designer     product? Are there any known issues? Any strong     opinions on the usage or not?
