Hello Gurus

I would like to know the industry standards for archiving the data on say monthly basis considering that it may have to recovered any time later .

What is the best way to do it???

I come up with one idea.

The steps
1. Create temporary tables with the logical set of database(tables) to be archived.
2. Export them
3. Import only data when required.

My manager does not like the idea & he claims that there must be some industry standard way for doing it. May be a third party tool.

Thanks

sameer
