offline drop a datafile..

Hi everybody,
Could anyody tell me that even after " Alter database < > datafile <> offline drop " command the status of this perticular file is shown as Available. even there is no physical file available at the said path in the control file.
Kindly help...
If I import the objects that were there in the lost datafile then is there any other problem that i can face...or any step to further. as in case of any problem we have to import all the tables of that perticular tablespace.
Kindly help....
