No No No NO!!!! :) Coming from a HUGE Red Dwarf fan, I have to say that is in no way like the Guide, though the humour in both is twisted:) Very much to my liking!!

Red Dwarf is about a huge ship, originally crewed by thousands, but during an accident, they all died. This is apart from one man (Dave Lister) who was frozen as punishment, a holligram (Arnold Rimmer) who was the most pathetic "officer" on board, and in fact just used to fill vending machines (like the food machines in Star Trek Next Generation), a mutated cat/human, who is the coolest cat around, and always dresses to kill, and the ships on board computer (holly), who supposedly has an IQ of 3000, but is as thick as pig s&^*! In later series, they also pick up a humaniod droid called Criton (who is a pleasure droid) who cooks, and cleans for the most pathetic crew to ever man a starship!

They are lost thousands of light years in space with obviously no chance of getting back to earth, although they are not sure whether earth really exists anymore, as Lister was frozen for millions of years. This brings the chance that Lister could be the only surviving human ever (A VERY poor prospect) as he is just a lager drinking, curry eating typical Brit lout!

They go on many hilarious adventures, and I have to say I have every series on VHS! Great program!!

Jared - Do I get 5000 points for the explanation :)?

Regards

Mark

Quite a few don't get it apparently.

It's a British SciFi comedy. Think 'Hithhikers Guide to the Galaxy'.
