But, if you all let me return this thread back to a real discussion. How many
of you out there are using Linux, particularly RedHat, in a production environment preferably with Oracle? The boss(s) around here are looking for a
more "cost efficient" (read that as $0.00) operating system for some of our DB
stuff. We may even decide on a more "cost efficient" (same translation) rdbms,
otherwise known as PostGreSQL.

  You'd probably notice...advances in software would probably slow down because not too many software teams out there can push the envelope of what can be done on a computer as well as game development can (although there are some that I can think of). Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the code for some database query optimizers trace back to some gaming AI code. :)
