I've been testing quite a lot about it. First you need to know that the configuration is different in each platform. And some of them don't support async. F.e., in AIX you set two kernel parameters and init.ora parameter, in Hp-Ux you need to create the device, change a kernel

parameter.......................

Second, and referring to my experience, in Aix and HP-UX, the performance is worse than without it or even worse with multiple dbwriters. In Sun 2.5.1. I achieved a great performance. However Sun 2.6 and 7 doesn't give you with async the same response comparing with multiple dbwriters.

Third, as I test it, I suffered several bugs. F. e., resizing a database which has async.

Regards-
