They don't even have a release date on 9i yet. Why even upgrade if your having no issues. There may be no new bug support for older releases but if you are not using features that are buggy then who cares. Now I want to upgrade because we have a compelling reason to use some of the newer features but that's another story. I never upgrade just to upgrade.

8.1.7 is the terminal release for Oracle 8i. According to our Oracle rep, a terminal
release, by definition, will receive 6 more months of support. That alone seems
a sufficient reason to upgrade to 8.1.7. But, are there any other
(compelling) reasons

why we should upgrade, rather then wait for 9i?
