One chapter talks about "Differences between Oracle8 and the Oracle8 Enterprise Edition" or "5 Oracle8i Feature and Option Availability". I personally found that the main difference between the two has to do with scalability. Unless I am mistaken, no real functionality differences exist in the sense that there is something you can do with Enterprise that you can't do at with Standard. The Enterprise Edition allows you to do things in parallel and online index rebuilds and advanced replication and failover. Intermedia for example comes with both. Advanced Queuing is only with Enterprise Edition. Everything missing from Standard Edition is actually present in Personal Edition! Sounds weird, eh.
