Having just logged on to Savants web site, I see that they have been aquired by Precise!! Taking a look at the screen shots, and info they have on the web site, I have to say the tool looks pretty good.. (Spotlightish almost). If you are going for Precise SQL, Savant may be the better to stick with now simply for a central point of technical support.

I'm not sure if the tool can handle event monitoring and alarming via background processes though, or whether it is as the name suggest - pure diagnostics. If it is like Spotlight (Quests diagnostic tool) then you have to have the client open to monitor the database, and cannot monitor in background (I think anyway, maybe Jacques could clarify). This could lead to problems occuring without you knowing about them, if say your PC is being rebooted or something like that..

My advice is test them all against each other (if you have the time) and draw your own specific matrix of what you need and are trying to achieve. Then you can let us all know which is the better :)
