RE: Max length of SID in Oracle 8

Hi,

  Both ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME are part of the hash algorithm. Different SID's hashing to the same memory location is no urban legend. I had this problem with 8.1.5 and 8.1.6 on HP. Either change the SID or change the location of ORACLE_HOME to fix it.
