RE: Oracle 8i(8.1.7) installation Solaris 5.7

Can u tell us which patches are required for this installation. After installing Solaris 7 patches we are facing following problems -

1. We are unable to see CDROM contents
2. Unable to reboot the machine.

Then we found that patch 106942-14 causes problem related to CDROM contents and patch 106980-13 causes reboot problem. Finally, we went on Oracle 8.1.7 installation without these two patches. But unfortunately, we are facing following problems while linking -

1. Error in invoking target install of makefile
   /export/home/oracle/product/8.1.7/otrace/lib/ins_otrace.mk
   
2. Error in invoking target ihsobc of makefile
   /export/home/oracle/product/8.1.7/rdms/lib/ins_rdms.mk
   

Moreover while installation is in progress we are also having these types of warnings
at the console(one of the warning is as ):

WARNING : /pci_at_1f,0/pci_at_1,1/ide_at_3/sd_at_2,0         (sg2);
           error for command ;   read(10)   error level:fatal
           requested block :204448   error block:20448
           vendor :LG     serial number 
           sense key : no additional sense
           asc : 0x0 ( no additional sense info), ascq : 0x0 , fru : 0x0

Now is there any problem with the CD rom ?

where are you having trouble ? I installed it yesterday on the same system in about an hour and a half with no trouble.

I have been trying to install Oracle 8i rel 8.1.7 on Solaris 5.7(Sun Box Ultra 5) for quite a long time now.
Has anyone installed this successfully ? Please help me by guiding the important steps,
procesures for installing 8i on solaris 5.7.
