Some times though even some of us experienced DBA's ask questions that some claim are newbie questions. Its the nature of the job. However, its not a bad approach for those who don't want to read those type of questions.

List, Margaret

I myself have absolutely no problem with begginers asking questions on this list. I consider myself to be a "Newbie" when it comes to administering Oracle as I have never actually been in that role! Fair enough I can answer questions based on the "Concepts".. And 75% of the time I am right.. The rest I get corrected, and actually learn a little more for myself - and isn't that what this list is for?

If somebody considers a question to be "easy" or if they are new to Oracle, and need advice, why not pre-state in the subject line - NewB:How do I select from a table? etc..

I think this way those that do have problems with "easy" questions being posted can skip that one, or hit the fabled <del> key.. Others that don't actually mind putting their time in to helping a fellow propellor head can answer the question accordingly.

Does anybody see a problem with this kind of approach - It seems to have taken off with the regular OT: subject?

Ask away Margaret, if I know the answer I'll have a go, many on this list will do the same!

Regards

Mark

Thanks folks for the info on a "beginers" list. I've got a "must have" book to get Oracle DBA 101 and a couple of websites to check out.

EP - if you start that list I'll be there but be prepared and PATIENT :-)

Thanks,
Margaret Strother
