I have never tried such migration , but used temporary tables .

Yes , we can use temp tables if we are planning so at the time of designing the system . As the temp table comes into life after we use it and is available for that perticular user session . But this is a feature from 8.1.5 ( or 8.1.6 , I am not sure ).
