8.1.6 Solaris connection to MSSQL 2000 - HELP

8.1.6/8.1.7 on Solaris, need connectivity to MSSQL 2K;

Has anyone successfully connected to MS SQL Server 2000 on W2K ? I've managed to get connect to SQL Server 7 via Oracle's TG4MSQL on NT, and could presumably create a linked server from SS7 to SS2K, but that seems like a cludge. Struggling with Merant's ODBC and Oracle's HS has only left me with fewer hairs to pull out.

ANY help/success stories MUCH appreciated....

Todd,

        I looked into upgrading the machine when I installed the processor, but Microsoft and anyone else I spoke to did not think that running the "upgrade" was a good idea. So I just reinstalled the OS. I was not saying that it doesn't work though, it uses both processor, just not all of the time, which I would assume could be expected. Sincerely,
Kevin

We have 16+ NT boxes with dual CPUs. On all of the machines Oracle uses both processors. NT, not Oracle, is responsible for splitting the load between processors, which it does for all SMP aware applications. I would check with your admin to see if he/she correctly setup the HAL for the dual CPU box. Adding
a processor and not updating the HAL results in the machine only using one CPU. Todd Carlson

Interesting, we have a couple of NT servers, well not really servers just high end dell workstations. All of them except for one have dual CPU's and Received on Mon Jan 08 2001 - 14:08:51 CST
