In other words, it may take a long time, but socialism will ultimately fail. It contradicts nature/adaptation and wisdom. Socialism requires "system" to "colonize" the "lifeworld" of the people, including colonization of faith/wisdom traditions. Altruism and compassion do not require such colonization, and are intrinsic to the creative/dynamic processes of discovery of "meaning" in the human lifeworld.

( see Habermas
http://caae.phil.cmu.edu/Cavalier/Forum/meta/background/HaberIntro.html . Note: Habermas uses the philosophical jargon & conceptual framework of postmodernist/ deconstructionist/ relativist thought, but his ideas actually refute relativism.)

This is essentially proposed as a way of "redeeming" rationalism and democracy from its consumerist excesses and overabundance of "male agency". The goddesses (love, nearness, relation) are back. Received on Thu Jan 04 2001 - 15:13:18 CST
