Hi!
Does the catalog (and catproc?) need to be run again?
aren't there any 'incremental scripts'
like it used to be available for migration
from Oracle 7.2.3 to Oracle 7.3.4 etc..??
Thanks
If this is on Unix,
I would do the following:
1. Take a good backup(cold and export). Preserve archives. Just in case 2. Shutdown database and listener. 3. Blow the $ORACLE_HOME. 4. Install 8.1.6 by setting proper env etc. 5. Rerun the catalog scripts. 6. Restart the database 7. Check everything.
IMPORTANT: If ur system is Prod, test the strategy in a test env and
evaluate the results first
HTH
Happy New year .. and Happy new century.

Greetings,
I am looking at the possibility of doing an 8.1.5 to 8.1.6 migration "under
the gun".
Does anyone have tips or things to avoid or any other helpful suggestions?

Brian,
I have a checklist on my other computer I'll send you tomorrow. One thing you should definitely after shutting down a backing up your database, is to tar up the 8.1.5 ORACLE_HOME directory -- just in case the migration fails, you want to be able to go back to 8.1.5.
Regards,
Diana

Dear Gurus:
I need some help. I am working on some heritage web pages. I'd like to make some links password protected so that when you click on the line you get the password screen and only certain ids can proceed further. The system is 8.0.5 and Oracle Application Server 2.1.
Does anyone have any sample procedures that do the login I could see or know of any examples on the internet ?
Thanks.
